We’re working with a growing, data-driven company looking to hire a Data Engineering Lead to take ownership of their data platform and guide its next stage of evolution.
This is a hands-on leadership role focused on modernising existing systems while building a scalable, cloud-based data platform for analytics and future growth.
What you’ll do
- Lead and mentor a team of Data Engineers, setting standards and best practices
- Design and implement scalable data architecture (lakehouse / unified platform)
- Drive modernisation of legacy systems while ensuring business continuity
- Define data pipelines from ingestion to transformation (ELT/ETL)
- Establish data governance, quality, and observability frameworks
- Improve CI/CD, automation, and engineering workflows
- Work closely with product, BI, and infrastructure teams
- Balance long-term architecture with day-to-day delivery
Tech stack / environment
- Python, SQL
- Multi-cloud environment (AWS, GCP, and modern data platforms)
- ELT pipelines and orchestration tools
- Data warehouses / lakehouse architectures
- CI/CD, Git, Infrastructure as Code (e.g. Terraform)
What we’re looking for
- 5+ years in Data Engineering or related roles
- Experience in a Lead or senior position (team guidance, architecture decisions)
- Strong background in designing scalable data platforms
- Hands-on experience with cloud environments (AWS or GCP)
- Solid understanding of data modelling, pipelines, and transformation layers
- Experience with modern data practices (automation, observability, governance)
- Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally
Nice to have
- Experience with multi-cloud or cross-platform data setups
- Exposure to lakehouse architectures or similar frameworks
- Familiarity with RPA-driven data collection or complex ingestion pipelines
